One Room Challenge Week 1: Retro-Tropical Guest Bathroom Preview

Howdy! For my old-timers, welcome back you’ve been around this block with me before and know how much fun we can have. For newcomers, let me formally introduce myself, Megan, the Mid-century Millennial.

I’ve been renovating my 1971 Austin, TX home room-by-room, as a first-time DIY-renovator on a budget. Follow me on Instagram and TikTok and it won’t take long to get to know me and my vintage-obsessed lifestyle. Please introduce yourself in the comments - i’m not shy and you shouldn’t be either!

Fall 2020, I participated in my first ever, One Room Challenge. I renovated my guest bedroom taking it from blasé to Texas tiki getaway. Check out the full journey to see how it went last time around.

The One Room Challenge is an 8-week design challenge to renovate one room with weekly updates, in community with official designers and guest designers participating in the challenge. There’s not really a competition element, with the intent being more about the process and sharing inspiration throughout.

Ready to bust some tile

The goal with this 8-week One Room Challenge kicking off April 6th is to transform our bland guest bathroom into a bright, retro tropical oasis with a heavy dose of kitsch on a DIY budget.
